Here is the second set of photos! These were taken on a day trip to the aquarium. I think it’s incredibly calming watching those animals swim through the water. May I add that I spent about 15 minutes straight staring perplexed at one jelly fish bobbing in its lone, empty tank. Amazing. The last photo was taken on the bus I took every day to get to and from the city. It’s blurry but for some reason I like it. I hope that you do too, x.
The first part of photos from my amazing trip to Germany.
One morning I woke up, went to the kitchen to make myself a hot cup of milky tea, and in the corner of my eye I saw a blanket of white through the window. Excited like a child on Christmas, I looked outside to see a magical snowy wonderland. I have seen snow before, but every time I see that white world my heart flutters. So here are some photos I took while my mum and I walked around my family’s place. Just imagine my face the whole time we walked haha.
Firstly, Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and safely celebrated into the new year.
After a beautiful wintry month in Germany with my family I’m back in the humid but homely Australia. It is nice to be back, but I already miss Europe and its unrivalled culture, fashion, sophistication, and of course, my family. And yes, I even miss the icy weather. I can’t believe I’m saying it, but it’s true.
In the few days I’ve been back I have ever so slowly unpacked my suitcase (What I Bought post coming soon), tried to surpass my jetlag, rejoiced the time I now have again with my boyfriend, and started a new health regime in which I have cut out bad sugars, bad carbs and bad fats. Please note I am not changing my diet to lose weight, but to simply be and feel healthy and improve my not-so-great skin without crazy medication. So be gone processed food and welcome fresh summer fruit, vegetables, wholegrains, lean meat, beans and nuts.
During the month that I was not able to access internet, I truly missed blogging and cannot wait to get back into it. I am now starting to reply to all your kind comments and new followers.
I will upload photos of my trip as soon as I can. x
Hello lovely readers! I’m so sorry I haven’t been able to update my blog while I’m away, let alone even check it. Unfortunately there is only landline internet where I am staying and I seldom get to use it, so I guess this is just how it will have to be until I’m back.
Two weeks have flown by. I’ve seen snow, watched it melt, spent time with my family, done some shopping (I will show you when I get back), and frozen my feet and fingers off. I’ve missed and do miss my boyfriend plenty and can’t wait to see him again.
Over the past two or so weeks that I haven’t been blogging I have had an influx of comments and followers – to you kind people I say thank you and I will be replying and following as soon as I get back!
Anyway, just a quick update and one photo I took the other day when it snowed.
Merry Christmas and I look forward to seeing all of your blogs.
As I prepare for travelling overseas in just over a week, airplane essentials pop to my mind. Long international plane rides are boring, cold, scary (for me), and uncomfortable, so I’m thinking hard about what I will bring to make the flight as smooth as possible.
The first thing that sprung to mind is Lucas’ Papaw Ointment, which I swear by and make sure I always have a tube in my hand bag. Airplane air is incredibly drying, so to avoid painful, cracked lips I’m going to whack on this ointment religiously. Last year when I went overseas, I woke up after a brief nap on the plane to find my nose was so dry it hurt. In desperation, I put some ointment on my finger and shoved it up my nose haha. It worked well but this time I think I’ll purchase some saline nose spray so I don’t look like a freak who constantly shoves lotion up their nose.
Face wipes. After a while in that dry air your skin begins to feel tight and dirty. Instead of climbing over the sleeping person next to you, waiting in line for the lavatory, and awkwardly washing your face with a cleanser, I use face wipes which cut out all said steps. Just wipe your face clean and place the used wipe in a plastic bag in the front seat.
Rose mist is amazingly refreshing. I don’t actually use Jurlique’s as I just wanted a photo of rose mist, but honestly any brand will do. I’m not sure I could spend more than $15 on nice-smelling and infused water… But honestly, If you wake up feeling a bit gross and your skin feels tight and tired, spray some rose mist on your face and you and your skin will feel refreshed and cleansed.
A lot of face wipes say they cleanse, tone and moisturise, but using a good moisturiser on a flight really doesn’t hurt. The Natio skin care range smell lovely and their moisturiser is nourishing without being overly thick. Instead of bringing another entire tube of hand or body lotion, you can just use face moisturiser for the same effect. Less weight and more soft skin!
I get super bored on a long flight like any person would and I find writing/doodling enjoyable and a good time-waster. If I’m feeling anxious I’ll write why and consequently feel better, and if I have an idea I’ll scribble it down and it often leads me to other ideas and more writing. Doodling is also good fun!
Lastly, an eye mask and ear plugs. Babies are cute and all, but I really don’t want to hear crying while I’m trying to sleep. Also, people snore and ear plugs make me not want to violently shake them awake. The constant turning on and off of the cabin’s lights and personal lights are very distracting to someone trying to fall asleep. This is where the eye mask comes in. You all know how eye masks work so I’ll leave it at that.
Of course, I can’t forget items like an easy-to-read novel, a magazine, iPod, some kind of pillow, and a thick jumper & trackies because it gets soo cold.
I’m not sure if this has helped anyone, but I thought it may help anyone who is freaking out about a plane trip and wants to mentally prepare themselves (i.e. me…).
Have I missed anything?
Also, if anyone has suggestions for good flight novels, hit me up!
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend.
Last night in bed while I was trying to shut my brain off to no avail, I was thinking about what I’m going to pack for Europe. I came up with my winter socks, my two pairs of jeans, my one knitted cardigan, boots, and well, that’s it. Yes, this is what I have to wear for a month of European winter. It looks like I’ll be freezing, woo.
Accordingly, my unequipped wardrobe kept me up and I was listening to my boyfriend’s soft snores for quite some time.
Well these people above obviously didn’t have any trouble and their pretty suitcases and perfectly packed clothes are making me very jealous.
I’m thinking either I’ll raid some thrift/op shops for big jumpers and coats before I go, or freeze a little bit in Germany and raid some second-hand shops there. Or maybe both… I’m dreaming.
