Perched on the corner of Enoggera Terrace in Red Hill, Plum Tucker is a delightful cafe abounding with character and charm. With an all day breakfast and lunch menu, Plum Tucker places emphasis on fresh, wholesome food with a home-style feel, ensuring full bellies and happy faces all around.
Reminiscent of a greenhouse, Plum Tucker’s main dining area is an outdoor courtyard surrounded by big glass windows. The space is bright yet cosy, and a water feature and luscious outdoor plants give a familiar feeling of comfort and contentment.
While the menu is succinct, there is an option to suit everyone — including those who are vegan, gluten free and dairy free.
The delicious breakfast items include Toasted Fruit Loaf w/ ricotta + blueberry jam; Avocado on Sourdough w/ caponata, cherry tomatoes and rocket; a healthy Eggs Benedict on malted vienna toast w/ spinach + cauliflower sauce; Hokey Pokey French Toast w/ bacon, salted walnuts + pure maple syrup; as well as a build-your-own ‘Breakfast Your Way’ for the creative or picky.
This morning we decided on one sweet and one savoury dish: the House-Baked Corn Bread w/ Avocado, and the Hot Organic Quinoa Bowl.
The Corn Bread served with avocado, corn salsa and passata was a balanced dish full of flavour. The house-baked corn bread was crispy on the outside and wonderfully crumbly inside, which paired beautifully with the sweet corn salsa and passata.
The addition of sundried tomatoes added an extra layer of depth and flavour, while the creamy avocado rounded out the dish perfectly.
The Quinoa Porridge — made with organic Australian quinoa and coconut milk — was deliciously creamy and topped with stewed rhubarb, vibrant strawberries, apple slices, crumbled pistachios, cacao nibs and pure maple syrup.
The creamy Porridge was delicately flavoured and married sublimely with the crisp apple and crumbled pistachios.
Both dishes felt light while still being vibrant in flavour, with each dish complementing each other. One thing we noted was how the portions were just right — not too little, but not too much that left you feeling uncomfortably full.
Our two juices — The Ginger Ninja and Summer Splash — were fresh and tasty, while the creamy soy chai and great coffee warmed us up beautifully. With outstanding + warm customer service, a laid back atmosphere and delicious food, Plum Tucker is a stellar cafe bursting with charm.
